Today on World Day for Animals in Laboratories, Cruelty Free International is highlighting the plight of those animals who continue to suffer in laboratories around the world for the sake of vanity.
Despite achieving a ban on such cruel tests within the European Union, it is still perfectly legal to force feed and inject cosmetic products and their ingredients into animals including, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice, in many other countries. In fact, over 80% of the world still allows animals to be used in cruel cosmetics tests and, in some countries, animal testing is actually required before a product can be sold.
Cruelty Free International is the only global voice for animals who continue to suffer and die in cosmetics tests. We work with governments, regulators, companies and partner organisations worldwide to place the issue of animal testing on the agenda in some countries for the very first time as part of a global strategy to tackle product testing.
Cruelty Free International Chief Executive, Michelle Thew stated: “Please join us in commemorating World Day for Animals in Laboratories by supporting Cruelty Free International, the new global organization dedicated to ending cosmetics tests on animals. It is simply unacceptable that animals continue to suffer and die for the sake of a new shampoo or eye shadow. We are working with regulators and governments to ensure that animal testing for cosmetics is banned throughout the world. Please support our vital work to ensure no more animals have to suffer for vanity.”
